2019 ASDM conference is exploring cultures in the heart of SD, hosted by the South Dakota Hall of Fame.

10:00 AM What is a Culturally Inclusive Museum?
Dr. Erica Moore from Lower Brule Community College will discuss respectful ways to address cultures not your own and how this might look in a museum setting.
11:00 AM Between the Covers: Your Museum in a Book
Thinking about publishing? Patricia Bornhofen of the the National Music Museum shares helpful pointers and thoughts from recent, firsthand book-publishing experience.
Lunch 12:00 PM@ SD Hall of Fame
Make-your-own Sandwich Bar with a selection of assorted breads, ham, turkey, roast beef, two kinds of cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayo and mustard. Side dishes include an Italian pasta salad and a fresh vegetable salad. There would be ice tea and lemonade for drinks and a cookie for dessert. Tickets are $15.

Tamara St. John of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Historic Preservation Office discusses interpreting this conflict.
2:30 PM The Amazing Race
Learn how Codington County Historical Society uses community partners and landmarks to teach local history to K-12 students.

Kari Kohlhoff discusses what the Siouxland Heritage Museums staff learned while moving their collection to a new storage facility.

Tawa Ducheneaux of Oglala Lakota College will discuss connecting community and stakeholders to develop best practices for implementing cultural protocols in policy and collections care.
