9a-noon (MT): WORKSHOP: Emma DeVos and Tara Wilcox of Innovative NonProfit LLC “Nonprofit Leadership- Engaging your Board”.  Ideally, your board will be well-rounded, inspired, and working toward the mission of your organization in partnership with staff and volunteers. Achieving this ideal scenario takes work and commitment on both sides, but is very possible.

It’s likely your board members understand their legal, financial and leadership roles, but are they helping with fundraising and outreach? Do you feel confident that you have made the most of their skills, expertise, and time?

Onboarding, managing and engaging your board is time consuming and can be complicated when dealing with multiple personality types. Setting expectations and clarifying board roles is an important part of the engagement process, but just as important is your ability to adapt your leadership style in order to get the most out of each individual.

Managing ‘up’ with your board can be more complex than managing your staff, since they are volunteers.

In this session we’ll cover how to cultivate each of your board members in meaningful ways that benefit you, your team, and your organization. We’ll also work through some key leadership topics to help you including: using coaching and assessment, how to have difficult conversations, and creating consensus around common goals.

This session includes interactive breakouts, as well as templates and tools that can be used to implement changes and new ideas right away.
